How To Use The “L Throw” To Catch Pokémon With An (Almost) 100% Success Rate

How good are you at catching Pokémon? I’d be willing to bet that you’re probably pretty good. Like most players who have been playing since the game came out, hitting the Pokémon with the Poké Ball isn’t really an issue for you.

But, that doesn’t mean you can’t improve. No matter how good you are, you aren’t hitting 100% of your throws. No way. Not a chance. Unless, of course, you’ve been utilizing the “L throw”, which some players have reported simply cannot fail.

Performing an L throw is actually quite straightforward. All you need to do is grab a Poké Ball, drag it to the bottom left (or right) corner of the screen, flick it directly upwards, and then release. If you’ve done it right, it should hit the Pokémon.

It can take a bit of getting used to, but after around 15 minutes I was landing pretty much every single throw. The only times that I missed were when the Pokémon attacked or dodged, which can be predicted and worked around, but I’m kinda impatient and just like to waste balls.

As you can see from the GIF above, it’s an easy technique. The only caveat is that you need to perform the throw with a decent amount of speed while also factoring in the height of the Pokémon, which again, can take some getting used to.

Once you’ve mastered the regular L throw, you can move on to the next stage, which is the curved L throw. The only difference being with the curved L throw, you spin the ball (as you would with a normal curve throw) and then draw the L shape, etc.

What do you think of the technique? Is it something that you’d try for yourself? Or are you already pro enough that you don’t need any more help? Let me know in the comments below!
